Next came this strangely satisfying exercise. Applying the marks dramatically then cutting through them with a rubber priduces marks that reflect the movement of the whole arm and energy that created them.
The next image was a little less satisfying since pencil is less smooth to work with than charcoal but I think I executed this exercise competently. The speed, strength and drama of the marks adequately reflect the movement that goes into them. If you apply the mark with speed and drama the mark usually looks quick and dramatic.
